THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF VIRTUAL REALITY

BRIEF HISTORY

THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF VIRTUAL REALITY (abbreviated IJVR) was created in 1995, and had a CDROM enclosed with each printed issue to provide multimedia and software provided by the authors. The journal hosted by the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (USA), with Richard Blade as the Editor-in-Chief. Upon Professor Blade's retirement, the editorial, printing, and distribution functions were moved to China in 2006, with Professor Zhigeng Pan as the new Editor-in-Chief. The English language website for that location is http://www.ijvr.org. IPI Press continues to be the official publisher, and handles all non-Chinese subscriptions. The printed copies of the IJVR no longer come with a CDROM because the individual articles are available in digital form from the website http://www.ijvr.org .

MAILING DATES

The IJVR is a quarterly publication, i.e. published 4 times per year. The target date for mailing printed copies is typically the end of each calendar quarter, i.e. March 31 for the first quarter, June 30 for the second quarter, September 30 for the third quarter, and December 31 for the fourth quarter. The mailed copies typically take 2 to 4 weeks to reach the recipients in Europe or the USA. We have experimented with various kinds of mailing, but have not been successful in appreciably reducing the transit time.
